Total Solar Eclipse Preview

Location:
Planetarium

Albuquerque was in the perfect place for the best view of the October 14, 2023 annular eclipse. We won't be on the path of totality for the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, but it will be partial across New Mexico with 65-90% of the sun covered, depending on where you live. This will be the final solar eclipse visible directly over the U.S. until 2045!

The Museum's Space Science educators and scientists will present a series of talks before the big day. Find out why eclipses happen, what is special about this one, and most importantly, learn how to view it safely. This special April Fool's version of the talk will test if you believe some common misconceptions about eclipses!  Afterward, look through a solar telescope, weather permitting, and pick up your own eclipse glasses, viewers, or projectors.

This talk is included with Museum or Planetarium admission. Museum doors lock at 5 p.m., so please be on time.
