Coelophysis Block and Interactive

This block of rock is full of skeletons of Coelophysis (see-low-FY-sis), a Late Triassic dinosaur that is New Mexico's official state fossil. These skeletons are part of an extensive and world-famous bone bed discovered during the 1940s at Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu in northern New Mexico.

Sitting in front of the block is a touchscreen where visitors can examine features of the block close up, with pop-up information and commentary by Museum Preparator Larry Rinehart.
