Basia Irland’s artwork focuses on international water issues, especially rivers, waterborne diseases, and water scarcity. Join us for this unusual confluence of art and science and enjoy a lively discussion about water within our local community, globally, and within our own bodies.
 
Basia Irland is a Fulbright Scholar, author, poet, sculptor, installation artist, and activist who creates international water projects. She is Professor Emerita, Department of Art and Art History, UNM, where she established the Arts and Ecology Program. She often works with scholars from diverse disciplines building rainwater harvesting systems or filming and producing water documentaries. Irland writes a blog for National Geographic about international rivers. She was the only artist invited to participate in the Foundation for the Future’s International World Water Crisis Forum.

Purchase in advance, Space is limited. Adults only. Limited to 15 participants, to guarantee admission for our class you must registar in advance online at Brown Paper Tickets.  Online Adult Class ticket sales stop Midnight, 12:00 am, the morning of the event.

The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of 6 participants.
