Workshop - Introduction to Scientific Illustration

Many techniques Leonardo Da Vinci used in his notebooks are still used today by science illustrators. Starting in the Da Vinci, the Genius exhibition, we will examine how Da Vinci combined careful observation, scientific understanding, and artistic creativity to create works that are still relevant centuries later. We will then experiment with these techniques to draw objects from the Museum's exhibits and collections. Supplies will be provided.

Matt Celeskey is a natural history illustrator and exhibit designer. His work appears in several museum exhibitions, technical publications and popular books. He is member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and a Research Associate at the NM Museum of Natural History and Science.
