First Saturday Series-Plant Identification Session- July 5, 9-3:00

Ever wonder what the names of all those wildflowers and plants are? Let a SMNHC instructor help you identify the trees, plants, and flowers of the Sandias. Spend the day in the mountains hiking our trails, visiting two hands-on exhibit rooms and observing birds and animals from our wildlife observation deck. July will offer a PLANT IDENTIFICATION education session from 10:00-11:00am.

Homeschoolin' in the Home Range Ecology Day- July 22 9:15–2:15

Visit the Mountains in the summer season! The day includes: a guided hike in our beautiful Pinon-Juniper and Ponderosa forests; fun activities that teach ecology concepts; exploring our hands-on exhibits. Groups of homeschoolers will be guided on 4.5 hour program by one of our educators. The day is structured for group activities so pre-registration is required. First Saturday Series-Orienteering Session- August 2, 9-3:00

Learn the proper way to use a compass to find your way through one of our many orienteering courses. Spend the day in the mountains hiking our trails, visiting two hands-on exhibit rooms and observing birds and animals from our wildlife observation deck. August will offer an ORIENTEERING education session from 10:00-11:00am.

First Saturday Series-Guided Hikes- September 6, 9-3:00

Hike with a SMNHC instructor and learn about the diverse ecology of the Sandia Mountains. Please call ahead to reserve a spot; space is limited. Spend the day in the mountains hiking our trails, visiting two hands-on exhibit rooms and observing birds and animals from our wildlife observation deck. September will offer GUIDED HIKES, please call for more information and to reserve your space. Limited availability.
