New Mexico Expo -- State Fair
Bring your family to the Museum on Monday October 13 to celebrate National Geologic Map Day 2014.
Geologic maps provide almost unlimited data. They are important for science, business, economics, and public policy decisions about natural hazards. In New Mexico, they are used by scientists, sportsmen, tourists, miners, and land-use planners.
Come and see demos, 3-D models that combine topographic and geologic information, and examples of geologic maps produced for the Moon, Mars, and Venus. The New Mexico Bureau of Geology Geologic Mapping Group will be here to discuss and show examples from the State Map project.
Attend short workshops at 11:30 am or 2:30 pm to learn how to use the NM Geologic Highway Map as you travel around the state.
No registration required.
Free. (With that day's State Fair Admission)
