How to Use a Geologic Map Workshop

Join NMMNHS geologist and educator Jayne Aubele to learn how to make use of this amazing tool. A geologic map is an amazing 4-dimensional data array that shows the location, type and age of the rocks around you. New Mexico’s primary geologic landscape is the perfect place to make use of one.

This is an adults and older students-only class. No prior knowledge of geology needed.

This event celebrates National Fossil Day and is part  of the Museum's celebration of Earth Science Week. Learn more at earthsciweek.org.

Cost includes a copy of the New Mexico Geologic Highway Map. Preregistration is encouraged. Tickets are available using the link below.

About the Speaker: Jayne Aubele has researched and mapped the geology of New Mexico and the  Southwest for more than 30 years and has also produced geologic maps of Mars and Venus for NASA.  She was lead author of the Field Guide to the Sandia Mountains; and she was geologic technical advisor and on-camera geologist for the 2008 KNME-TV program, The Sandias.  She is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America.
