Young Explorers Summer Camps

· All camps are for children 5-12 from 9:00-4:00 with drop off beginning at 8:30

· Campers will experience an exciting day of science in both large groups and small groups exploring multi-age and age-appropriate activities

· Aftercare will be available from 4:00pm to 5:00pm every afternoon for $10/day

· Kindergarteners must have experience in all day classes before attending


 

Week 1 July 10-14

 

Dino Detectives (5-7 year olds) 

What does a pigeon have in common with a T. rex? Don your paleontologist’s hat and join us as we travel into the past to understand what makes a dino a dino and explore the environments they lived in! We will explore Museum collections, make fossils, and discover all about life in ancient New Mexico.  

 

 

Prehistoric Paleontology (8-12 year olds) Be a paleontologist for the day! Dig into the prehistoric world of the past and learn all about creatures that lived eons ago and the environments they lived in. Explore Museum collections, make fossils, and discover all about life in ancient New Mexico.  

 


Week 2 July 17-21 

Awesome Astronomy (5-7 year olds) 

Blast off on a celestial adventure through the solar system and beyond! Become a space explorer and investigate the solar system and Milky Way Galaxy with exciting activities. We will explore the huge variety of celestial objects, the Winter Solstice, space flight, and so much more. Campers will enjoy all that the Museum has to offer including the planetarium!  

  

 

Space Explorers (8-12 year olds) 

Planets and stars and meteorites, oh my! Become a space explorer and investigate the solar system and Milky Way Galaxy with exciting activities and planetarium shows. We will also get the chance to speak face to face with an expert who is currently working on the Mars rovers!  

 

  


Week 3 July 24-28 

Summer Science STEM-fest

Are you curious about all things science? Love to tinker and make things? Join us for a STEM-full week of exciting fun with paleontology, ecology, geology and how engineers make things happen!. Behind the scenes Museum tours, DynaTheater movies and Planetarium shows make each day a unique wonder.

• Price per camp: Price per camp (per week): $300.00 (Members: $270.00) 

  • The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science reserves the right to cancel camps that do not reach a minimum of six participants. A full refund will be given if a camp is canceled for this reason.
