With the Museum temporarily closed for a renovation project, the museum’s team of educators will be bringing natural history into the community with a full slate of public programs in Bernalillo County libraries and community spaces during the fall months. Explore the museum's traveling exhibition New Mexico Rocks! and learn about our state's unique geology at Tony Hillerman Library.
Information about the Tony Hillerman Library is available HERE.
About the exhibition: New Mexico Rocks! is a specially retrofitted 38-foot RV exploring New Mexico’s regional geology though a hands-on science exhibit. Geology is the study of Earth: what it is made of, how it was made, and how it is still being shaped. This exhibition explores the state’s “geoscape,” which can be divided into 5 regions. New Mexico Rocks! meets NM STEM Ready! Science Standards.
While the museum is closed for renovations, this mobile museum will be visiting schools and libraries throughout Albuquerque, in collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs’ Wonders on Wheels program.
